Dreifa Energy, together with law firm Ashurst, hosted a Workshop on 19 September at Gastech 2018 in Barcelona. The workshop was well attended with an estimated 50 people from across the LNG industry filling the room to learn about LNG import projects in new markets - the opportunities and challenges.
Dreifa Energy board member and LNG advisor David Thomas made the introduction and started by addressing the importance of emerging and smaller LNG consumers in sustaining global LNG demand. After that Ashurst partners Philip Thomson and Julia Derrick discussed changes in commercial and financing structures and possible contract solutions in order to mitigate risks in new LNG markets.
Dreifa Energy’s Jostein Ueland rounded of by addressing how the Dreifa LNG Terminal solution could help solve a number of the issues raised by the former speakers by “focusing on what you need today – not what you might need in the future”, thus minimising terminal unit costs and managing a project’s balance sheet exposure in order to get these medium scale projects off the ground.
After the talks, the panel opened up for questions where the attendees interacted with the panel in a good Q&A session.
